The Royal Horticultural Society is the world's premier gardening charity, dedicated to promoting excellence in horticulture. As a charity, the RHS reaches a wide range of audiences by providing information, advice, ideas and inspiration; at our shows and gardens, in our publications and online, and through our work in the community.
This role, based at the Society's flagship garden at Wisley, supports the work of the RHS as an International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) for nine groups of plants. You will initially take responsibility for the International Daffodil Register, while supporting home-working colleagues with other plant groups, and supervising volunteers and occasional students. You will also work with RHS committees linked to the Registers, including the Narcissus Classification Advisory Group and the Bulb Committee and get the opportunity to work at some of the RHS Shows.
Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with plant enthusiasts from around the world. You also need to have a plant science background, have experience of managing information in a database, be competent at literature research and be familiar with one of the Codes of Nomenclature.
We offer a wide range of benefits as part of your employment package which include 25 days holiday, life assurance and Group Personal Pension Plan.
The anticipated interview date will be Wednesday 5 June 2013.
Apply by completing the RHS Application Form and send with your CV and a covering note highlighting how you match the knowledge, experience and skills requirements of the role to: recruitment@rhs.org.uk. Please ensure you attach a completed Equal Opportunities Form from the download section.
All applications should be received by 4pm Tuesday 28 May 2013.
The Application Form and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form are editable savable documents.
