Exhibiting at RHS Shows
A very high standard of work is required in the exhibition of botanical illustration. Emphasis is placed primarily on botanical accuracy with aesthetic appeal.
Individual artists or group exhibitors are allocated space at each show. Exhibits must comprise a minimum of six pieces of art, preferably presented on a theme. Please read Guidelines and Regulations for full information.
Each exhibit is judged by the Picture Advisory Committee, and awards are given accordingly.
Submissions meetings
Please note there is an annual submission meeting to assess artists for exhibiting in RHS shows. The deadline for submissions for consideration at this meeting is Wednesday 26 June 2013.
The date of the next selection meeting is 10 July, 2013.
Picture submissions
Four original examples of botanical illustration, mounted but not framed, should be sent to the Picture Committee Secretary before the selection meeting. Artists from overseas should send actual-size prints of their work.
Each piece should be labelled with the artist’s name and address, and the subject of the drawing. These works do not need to be on a theme.
Group exhibitors should ensure that one piece from each artist is submitted.
While every effort will be taken to ensure the safe keeping of your work, it is recommended that you hand deliver and collect your art works from the Lindley Library Art Collections, by appointment with the Picture Committee Secretary. If, however, you are unable to do so please make alternative arrangements with the Picture Committee Secretary. If posting your art works within the UK, it is strongly recommended that they be sent 'Special Delivery' or by art courier.
The RHS will not take responsibility for the condition of artworks posted or couriered.
