A very high standard of work is sought and met at the exhibition of photography. Exhibits must comprise a minimum of eight photographs presented on an horticultural theme. These can be plant portraits or scenes of gardens. See Guidelines and Regulations for further information. Each exhibit is judged by the Photographic Committee, and awards are given accordingly.
Chairman: Gordon Rae
Vice-Chairman: Andrew Lawson
The date for the submission meeting for exhibiting at the London Flower Show October 2012 is 1 March 2012.
The deadline for submissions by photographers for inclusion at this meeting is 27 February 2012.
Photographic works for submission are to be sent to the Photographic Committee Secretary before the selection meeting in the formats detailed below.
These should be clearly labelled with the photographer’s name and address, the subject of the picture, and the processes used in creating the work. The images submitted for consideration do not need to be presented on a theme. Group exhibitors should ensure that one piece from each photographer is submitted.
Works may be submitted in the following formats:
- Four unframed photographic prints
- CD containing four digital image files which must be jpegs from 5 to 10 MB and 1200 pixels on the longest side.
It is recommended that you hand deliver and collect your works from the Picture Library. If, however, you are unable to do so, please make alternative arrangements with the Secretary. If posting your photographs within the UK, it is strongly recommended that they be sent Special Delivery.
Photographers will be sent written feedback from the Photographic Committee with the returned photographs.
This bursary is awarded to photographers who are new to the business towards the cost of mounting an exhibition of photographic work at the October London Flower Show.
A £500 fund is available annually, to be divided between two or more photographers. Potential applicants should apply to the Secretary of the Bursary Committee, following acceptance of their work by the Photographic Committee. All photographers are required to submit work to the Committee for approval before they are accepted as an exhibitor at the show.
Please note: For publicity purposes, candidates who are successful in receiving an award will be requested to provide copes of their images for use in RHS publications and on RHS Online. The copyright in all photographs produced is retained by the photographer and all reproductions of the works would be credited wherever possible.
