Help us create ‘living classrooms’

RHS Support our work

The RHS Campaign for School Gardening is all about introducing a whole new generation to the wonders of gardening. From sowing mustard and cress on blotting paper to harvesting a pumpkin for Halloween, it's vital that children understand the importance of gardening and gain a few basic skills for the future.

We want to help as many schools as possible to create their own ‘living classrooms’ - a space devoted to gardening – whether a tiny corner of the classroom or a thriving allotment; somewhere children can learn how to grow plants, investigate wildlife, learn about the environment and discover where the fruit and vegetables they eat really come from.

Your help

More than 16,000 schools, are already on board. We want to encourage all schools in the UK to get growing, and to get every child to roll up their sleeves and get gardening!

How we are helping schools

How we are helping schools

The RHS Campaign for School Gardening provides materials, advice and tailored courses to help teachers see how gardening ties into just about every area of the curriculum - developing skills in geography, literacy, numeracy, design and technology and more.

Schools can work through a series of benchmarking levels with rewards and certificates as they improve their gardening skills.
A team of local advisors will get their hands dirty to show schools and pupils just how good gardening can be.
