School girl with plant potThe RHS is developing a strong future for gardening in the UK by inspiring current and future gardeners to develop their skills and knowledge at all levels.

We believe that gardening enriches people’s lives and contributes to the development of strong communities.

Qualifications and training

We are committed to providing a ‘ladder of qualifications’ from the RHS Level 2 Certificate, accessible to home gardeners as well as the first step in vocational training for the professional horticulturist, through to the prestigious Master of Horticulture (RHS) qualification. At all levels, RHS Qualifications are distinguished by our commitment to high standards.

We also offer practical training schemes through the School of Horticulture to more than 30 trainees within our own gardens, which offer an unmatched opportunity to learn with the best and to acquire the diverse craft skills and practical understanding of horticulture.

The RHS offers bursaries and scholarships to professional and student gardeners.

Schools and the RHS

We offer inspirational free school visits for primary and secondary schools at all our gardens run by qualified education officers covering a range of topics and workshops.

A programme of one day Continuing Professional Development Courses are available to teachers and adults working with school children to inspire them about gardening at venues across the country.
