The Society’s Charter provides for the President and Treasurer to serve as officers of the Society. Both of these office holders are elected annually by the membership at the Annual General Meeting and serve on the Council of the RHS as trustees. The President also acts as the Chairman of Council.

The current President is Elizabeth Banks DL, CMLI and the Treasurer is Sir Nicholas Bacon Bt, OBE, DL.

The Charter also provides for Council to make annual appointments to the office of Vice President. The role of Vice President is honorary and appointments recognise:

  • Distinguished service to or within the RHS
  • Ability to make a significant contribution to the achievement of RHS aims and objectives
  • Ability to promote and act as an ambassador for the RHS
  • Ability to exercise influence on behalf of the Society
  • Ability to assist in fundraising
