Election of President, Treasurer & Members of Council

The President and Treasurer of the RHS are elected annually by the members of the Society at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The other 15 elected members of Council usually serve for five years with at least three retiring each year and their replacements being elected at the AGM.

Notice of Election 2013 

An election will be held at the 2013 AGM to fill three ordinary vacancies on the RHS Council. Those elected to fill these positions will be expected to serve a five year term. There will also be an election at the 2013 AGM for the office of President and Treasurer, who will serve a one year term.

Those standing for election to the Council must have been a member of the Society since 1 March 2010, aged 18 or above on 25 June 2013 and not be disqualified from serving as a trustee under charities legislation. To stand for the positions of President or Treasurer you must be a member of the Society on 1 March 2013 and remain a member on 25 June 2013 and throughout your term of office.

A nomination paper, with the signatures of a Supporter, Seconder and six other RHS members, should be completed and returned by Friday 1 March 2013.

In the event of there being more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, an election will be held by postal ballot in the weeks immediately before the Annual General Meeting.
