Tina takes the title!
Congratulations to Tina Sardeson for winning 'The People’s Gardener' competition run by The Alan Titchmarsh Show and the Royal Horticultural Society.
Tina, an RHS trained gardener from the Lincoln village of Potterhanworth, was nominated by teaching assistant, Samantha Clifton from Potterhanworth C of E Primary School for her dedicated work in transforming a local allotment to teach children about gardening and nature. The school is also a part of the RHS’s Campaign for School Gardening.
The RHS applauds all the people who took part in the competition and congratulates the three other finalists, Nick Ward of Bristol, Jenny Sowerby of Seedley and Langworthy and Stan Sedman of Shrewsbury whose sterling community work helped them reach the finals.
Roger Burnett, Chair of the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Judges Panel and a judge for 'The People’s Gardener' competition, commented: “All the finalists are amazing community gardening champions. They all represent the essence of the RHS community gardening initiatives - local people working together to transform their surroundings through sustainable gardening. The more attractive a neighbourhood is, the more the community thrives.”
Tina's success was announced on Monday 23 March on ITV1’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show. She won £10,000 in National Garden Gift Vouchers for community gardening projects.
