Nigella is a traditional cottage garden plant that is really easy to grow and has very pretty seed heads.
Nigella seeds prefer a sunny position.
Sow indoors February – April Sow outdoors April – June and in September
Packet of Nigella seeds Seed trays Seed compost Plant label Unheated greenhouse or cold frame Gardening gloves
Fill your tray with seed compost.
Sprinkle the seeds thinly over the surface and cover with a thin layer of compost.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into another tray about 5cm apart.
Plant outside from April onwards, spacing 15cm apart.
