Accommodation
Trainees based at Wisley have self-catering accommodation provided in Wisley village.
This consists of shared housing of between two to five people. Each trainee has a single study bedroom and access to a shared lounge and kitchen/dining facilities; the subsidised cost of which is deducted from remuneration.
Accommodation is provided at Rosemoor but not currently at Hyde Hall or Harlow Carr.
Facilities
All trainees have access to library facilities at all sites and IT facilities and those undertaking the Wisley Diploma are given additional lectures in the purpose-built Study Centre in Wisley village.
Most importantly, all trainees have access to RHS advisory and scientific staff and are fully equipped for their training in the gardens.
Social life
Trainees across the gardens engage in an active social life and get together for such occasions as apple pruning and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show preview day.
Wisley has an active Sports and Social Club, which hosts monthly events such as the welcome barbecue, bonfire and fireworks party and Burns Night celebrations.
Trainees also arrange their own study tour with help from the RHS Gardens Club and sometimes arrange weekend work parties. In the past, these have been to Great Dixter and Alnwick Castle.
Local to Wisley, there are pubs and clubs and close links are kept with Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, through regular visits to the Kew Mutual Improvement Society meetings.
