Laura Mythen - Anne Menhinick Prize
A passion for science and desire for a career change from Veterinary Medicine led Laura to enrol on the RHS level 2 Certificate in Horticulture. Her age made her eligible for the Anne Menhinick Prize, which she won thanks to her high marks, despite being heavily pregnant at the time of the exam.
Laura found one of the most interesting parts of the course was discovering how important soil chemistry and biology is to life and she's now thinking of a career in developing and improving the health of food crops, once baby Edward is older. She's hoping that her love of science and horticulture are in the genes and will be inherited by her son.
