Summer is here...
Visit 23 Lavender Garden and you’ll find activities to keep you entertained when the sun has its hat on! Why not make cress head people? Cress adds a lovely flavour to sandwiches and if you make more than one you can keep one for home and give one away – they make fantastic presents. And if your looking for something yummy to drink, our recipe for lemonade lollies is simple to make and perfect to share with friends. Plus, we hope you’ll find some new interesting facts about summer gardens.
Try this: use an inexpensive magnifying glass and see if you can spot a weird, cool or pretty plant or insect in a garden or park. We’d love to hear about your discoveries so send us an email with what you find together with a photo. As a thank you for writing to us, we’ll give you some seeds so you can grow some tasty veggies to munch on for dinner. Click here to email us your summer garden discoveries.
Have you been busy growing spuds or other veggies this summer? You don’t need a lot of space to grow fresh veg, you can plant salad leaves, herbs and many veggies from pots or in a window box.
Potato growing competition
Don’t forget there is still time to enter the Gardening Explorers Potato Growing Competition. The winner of the heaviest potato crop from one seed potato will receive a hamper crammed with gardening goodies worth £50! All entries must be received by Friday 15 August 2009. Find out more here
We hope you enjoy the summer and of course if you have some time why don’t you visit one of the RHS gardens.
