Britain in Bloom 2012 launch

Wild about Wildflowers

To kick off next year’s Britain in Bloom campaign we are inviting all 'in Bloom' and It’s Your Neighbourhood groups, as well as RHS Affiliated Societies and schools registered with the RHS Campaign for School Gardening, to sow wildflowers as part of a nationwide 'in Bloom' celebration to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

To help you do this, we are giving away 2,000 free packets of annual wildflower seeds (each packet covers an area 10sq m) to sow at your launch events.

Please apply using the application form below. Seeds will be provided on a first come first served basis (one packet of seeds per registered group). We will contact you by email within one week to confirm whether you have been successful.

When?

While groups are able to hold launch events throughout the entire month of April, the focal point will be 14-15 April and we hope many groups will be able organise something for that weekend. The launch celebration will coincide with the first-ever RHS National Gardening Week and we hope to generate significant coverage UK-wide.

How do I get my wildflower seeds?

Groups can apply for a free pack of annual wildflower seeds to cover an area 10sq m. The wildflowers included in the pack are:

  • Corn poppy
  • Corn marigold
  • Corn chamomile
  • Corn cockle
  • Cornflower

All wildflower seeds are UK-grown by environmental charity Landlife

Closing date

The closing date for applications is 12 March 2012. We will contact you by email to confirm whether you have been successful. Seeds will be delivered in the week commencing 26 March, in time for groups to arrange their sowing events in April.

Please note: You will not receive your wildflower seeds or any PR support for your event unless you register with us - see below.
