Britain in Bloom 2012 launch

Wild about Wildflowers
This year more than 1,200 'in Bloom' and It’s Your Neighbourhood groups, as well as RHS Affiliated Societies and schools registered with the RHS Campaign for School Gardening, celebrated the launch of RHS Britain in Bloom by going Wild about Wildflowers.
Groups were invited to sow wildflower seeds as part of a nationwide 'in Bloom' celebration to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Almost 20,000sq m of wildflower meadows were sown over the weekend 14 – 15 April, marking the start of National Gardening Week and the launch of Britain in Bloom.
The RHS offered all groups registered on one of the four campaigns a free packet of annual cornfield seed mix (to cover an area 10sq m) to plant at their events. Packets contained a mixture of corn poppy, corn marigold, corn chamomile, corn cockle and corflower - all UK-grown by environmental charity Landlife.
