Britain in Bloom 2014 launch
Growing for Gold – 50 Years of Britain in Bloom!
To launch the 2014 RHS Britain in Bloom campaign and to celebrate Bloom’s golden anniversary, the RHS is encouraging community groups across the UK to plant golden pollinator-friendly flowers in public spaces this year.
Free ‘Growing for Gold’ seed packs are available on a first-come, first-served basis to all groups registered with one of these campaigns:
- Bloom (all Bloom groups can apply for seeds - regional and national)
- It’s Your Neighbourhood
- RHS Affiliated Societies
- RHS Campaign for School Gardening
Each seed pack contains a selection of mixed sunflowers seeds.
When and where
Groups should hold their planting events during the month of April, but ideally between 14 – 20 April 2014, to coincide with the national launch activity for RHS Britain in Bloom.
There will also be the opportunity to add your events to the National Gardening Week website in spring 2014, which will help to promote your work to thousands of potential new volunteers. We will contact you as soon as it is possible to add your event to the site.
We hope that all groups will sow their golden displays in a public space(s) where the local community can enjoy them. Please ensure that you have permission from whoever owns the land before planting.
