Britain in Bloom 2013 launch

Edible Britain
Please note: Applications for free seeds described below are now closed.
To launch the 2013 RHS Britain in Bloom campaign the RHS is encouraging community groups across the UK to plant edible gardens in public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Free edibles seed packs are available to all groups registered with one of these campaigns:
- Bloom (all Bloom groups can apply for seeds - regional and national)
- It’s Your Neighbourhood
- RHS Affiliated Societies
- RHS Campaign for School Gardening
Each seed pack contains a selection of 15 different edibles suitable for sowing directly into the ground in April: chives, parsley, coriander, dill, garlic chives, sage, thyme, marigolds, nasturtiums, radishes, carrots, fennel, spring onions, spinach and red frills mustard. Seeds are sourced from Mr Fothergills.
When and where:
Groups should hold their events during the month of April, but ideally on 13 or 14 April 2013, to coincide with the national launch activity for RHS Britain in Bloom.
We hope that all groups will sow their edibles in a public space(s) where the local community can enjoy the harvest. Please ensure that you have permission from whoever owns the land and that you have checked that the soil is not contaminated. See ‘support and resources’ below for more on this.
