29 December 2010
The finalists for the 2011 RHS Britain in Bloom campaign have been announced. This year 76 villages, towns, cities and urban communities from across the UK will be competing for the coveted RHS medals.
The 2011 campaign also welcomes a new headline sponsor for the campaign for the next three years - Anglian Home Improvements.
Stephanie Eynon, RHS Community Horticulture Manager said, “We are very excited that Anglian Home Improvements is the new headline sponsor. We believe this partnership will help raise further awareness of this campaign and enable the RHS to make Britain in Bloom 2011 its most successful year yet.”
She added, “We are delighted to have 76 finalists this year, 10 more than last year. This increase reflects the overall level of participation in the campaign throughout the UK and the tremendous work being done by these communities.”
Martin Troughton, Anglian Home Improvements Marketing Director said, “Sponsoring RHS Britain in Bloom is a fantastic opportunity as we share a common purpose in ‘greening’ our communities. Anglian Home Improvements has a range of products to make the home a more energy efficient, greener place to live. By supporting RHS Britain in Bloom, together we can make a tangible impact across Britain.”
The 2011 campaign kicks off with a national weekend of tree planting over 26-27 March. All registered Britain in Bloom groups are invited to apply for a pack of free tree saplings, thanks to the Woodland Trust.
RHS Britain in Bloom is one of the largest and most successful horticultural campaigns in Europe, involving over a thousand communities each year. Approximately 115,000 volunteers donate an estimated 1.7 million hours of their time to the campaign.
