Berries, Blossoms, Birds, Butterflies and Bees for St Martin's Bilborough

Date
25 November 2012
Location
St Martin's Church
St Martin's Road, off Strelley Road
Nottingham
Nottinghamshire
Central England NG8 3BH
Summary
As part of the RHS Dig Together Day and to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Bloomin' Strelley and St Martin's Church, Bilborough will be joining together to plant 60 hedgerow saplings, donated by the Woodland Trust, on the open grassed land around the church. The trees will soften the hard outlines of the church’s 1970s community rooms making them more attractive to the local community and offering lots of blossoms and berries for birds, butterflies and bees. Anyone is welcome to come along and join in, no experience necessary and if digging is too much you can always help make the tea. This is a marvellous way to round off a great year of celebrations, the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and St Martin's success in securing a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to restore its Hidden Treasures. Come along and help make the church a ‘hive’ of activity for humans and wildlife.
