First Royal Park Training allotment

21 July 2010

New training allotment in Regent's Park, London

New allotment gardeners and those involved in community food-growing projects can pick up practical tips on growing their own fruit and vegetables at a new training allotment in Regent's Park, London – the first facility of its kind to open in a Royal Park.

The allotment, managed by Royal Parks staff, is hosting short training courses run by London grow-your-own initiative Capital Growth on every aspect of allotment gardening, from soil management and saving your own seed to growing in containers. Capel Manor College, which has a base nearby, is also using the site as a practical workshop for students.

The allotment opens to the public throughout the summer for free events, ending with the Harvest Fair on 25 September when visitors have a chance to taste produce grown on the site.
