Half term family fun: Budding gardeners

Local schools have been busy designing and planting miniature gardens - come and see what they've created, and vote for your favourite! You can also get your hands dirty by joining in with our spring garden trail and fun craft workshop. Plus Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers will be here with their honey festival - find out about their skilled craft and try out the fun children's activities.
What's on:
Bugs and beasties garden trail - 25 May – 2 June
Every day, pick up a trail from the main entrance and follow the clues to find the giant bugs and beasties hiding around the garden. Suitable for all ages.

Budding Gardeners Competition - 25 May – 2 June
Pupils aged 4 – 16 have been creating their own school show gardens to display here at Harlow Carr. See their 1m x 1m ‘pallet gardens’, filled with decorative ideas and practical planting schemes, and perhaps be inspired to get growing in your own small spaces at home. Don't forget to vote for your favourite!

Art bugs creative craft workshop: Build a miniature garden - 25 – 31 May
Build a miniature craft garden on a plate! Create tinfoil ponds and secret dens using various found materials.
Workshop times: 11am – 1pm and 2 - 4pm
The Beekeepers Open Weekend - 1 – 2 June
The Harrogate and Ripon Bee Keepers Association will be displaying their skilled craft and running a range of demonstrations, including candle making, honey extraction and skep making. With children’s bee activities and quizzes too, there’s something for all the family. Plus, learn about Harlow Carr's bees with a demonstration and talk at the bee observation hive at selected times.
