Easter eggs and welliesEaster half term fun – Colours of the rainbow
29 March – 14 April 2013

Brighten up this Easter and enjoy activities with an explosion of colour at Harlow Carr. Meet Easter Bunny, go mad with craft, and hunt down every colour of the rainbow on our exciting Easter egg activity trail.

Inspiring, local art will also be on show, as exhibitors Art 2 Enjoy set up a pop-up gallery and run a have-a-go painting table for budding artists. To top it all off, the colourful sounds of the Harrogate International Youth Festival will provide art for your ears with live performances on selected dates.

What's on when:

Rainbow egg activity trail - daily

Rainbow trailPick up a trail from the main entrance and find the colourful egg shapes around the garden to match every colour of the rainbow.

Easter Bunny visits Harlow Carr - 29 March – 1 April

Over Easter weekend, meet Easter Bunny as he makes his merry way around the garden! 11.30am – 2pm

Harrogate International Youth Festival – 31 March & 1 April

Harrogate International Youth Festival Harlow Carr will be playing host to the Harrogate International Youth Festival on selected dates across the Easter weekend. Come and enjoy live performances by young musicians from around the world.

Performance times:

St. Aelred's Irish dancers (31 March, 12.30pm)
This local Irish dance group from St. Aelred’s Church in Starbeck was formed in 1978 and has performers aged five years and up. They will be performing reels, jigs, figure, ceilidh and traditional set dances.

The Juja African Choir and Dance Group (31 March, 1.30pm)
This African group is from the Juja Preparatory and Senior School in Nairobi, Kenya, and will be performing a range of traditional songs and Kenyan dances for all to enjoy.

Grande Prairie Composite High School (1 April, 12pm)
The Concert Chorale from Grande Prairie in Canada is a 37-member choir of mixed voices and will be performing both sacred and secular music in the garden.

The Cantabile Youth Singers (1 April, 12.45pm)
This award winning teen choir from Kingston in Canada will be singing traditional, classical genres and folk songs as well as contemporary, popular and multi-cultural works.

Creative Crafts with the Cone Exchange
29–31 March & 13-14 April

Girl at craft workshopEnjoy a creative craft workshop with Captain Rummage from The Starbeck Cone Exchange! Using a host of recycled materials he'll help you turn trash into treasure.

With lots of cutting, sticking and fixing, kids can create their very own mini beast to take on an adventure around the garden.
11am-1pm and 2–4pm

Art bugs creative craft workshop - 1–12 April

Get busy creating your very own rainbow sun catcher or windsock to hang up and admire!
11am–1pm & 2–4pm

Art 2 Enjoy exhibition by Iain Will - daily 10am–4pm

Hare in meadowFind artistic inspiration at our onsite exhibition ‘Art 2 Enjoy’, where a range of original artwork will be on show and available to buy throughout the Easter break. Original oil and acrylic paintings will be on offer as well as prints, greeting cards and paper weights.

Talk to the artist, Iain Will, and see him at work on selected days. Budding artists, young and old, can also let their creative juices flow at the ‘have-a-go’ table open every day. More on the Art 2 Enjoy exhibition
