The Summer Art Exhibition features 26 leading Yorkshire artists, showcasing the very best artwork from around the region. The extensive exhibition programme will include 8 main artists who will exhibit their work full time throughout the exhibition, and 18 guest artists who will be added each month to enhance the variety of the show.

Work will include a range of art forms including landscapes, traditional and abstract, botanical and silk painting, printmaking, pencil drawings, ceramics, handcrafted woodturnings, original cards and prints. With each artist having their own quirky and unique style, there really is something to delight everyone visiting this summer.

Times: 10am – 4pm

About the main artists

Annie Robinson - Mixed media landscape artist
Image: Annie RobinsonThe theme and inspiration for Annie’s work is ‘from the Northern landscape’, a subject which continues to provide the initial inspiration and stimulus to start a painting. Working in an intuitive and expressive way allows her work to develop in different directions and with exciting results.

Teresa Boast – Acrylics and watercolour artist
Image: Teresa BoastTeresa produces a range of styles from detailed wildlife to impressionistic landscapes. She is best known for her quirky colourful sheep which are avidly collected. Her work is produced as quality prints and greeting cards, which are designed to either cheer the spirit or lift it to a calmer place.

Nikky Corker – Acrylic painter
Image: Nikky CorkerNikky’s bright and cheerful acrylic paintings reflect her love of colour and storytelling. Each piece is another chapter in the never ending story of the characters of her imagination.

Hester Cox - Printmaker
Image: Hester CoxHester is a printmaker based in Masham whose work reflects her love of the natural landscape and the wildlife that inhabits it. She has created a printmaking studio in her home where she designs collagraph and relief plates that she then prints in layers to form a richly textured and colourful limited edition print.

Image: Nolan Stacey Nolan Stacey – Pencil artist
Nolan Stacey is a self-taught pencil artist specialising in drawings of British wildlife, rural scenery, and farm animals. Without the use of colour, working solely with a pencil forces him to concentrate on the tone, texture and contrast of a piece, making it a deceptively complicated discipline.

David Wardingly - Woodturner
David WardinglyDavid has been working with wood for over 35 years and now incorporates carving, using his self-taught skills to create pieces that are popular and highly collectable. His work ranges from hand turned flowers and rippled ash bowls to handmade earrings and hand carved spoons.

Julia Wardingly – Oil and pastel landscape artist
Image: Julia WardinglyJulia is a self-taught artist and likes to use colour and light in her paintings, following the seasons for that elusive inspiration! Oils are Julia’s favourite medium. She mixes her own variants and incorporates texture and impasto into her paintings to give a feeling of vibrancy.

Image: Pat WillardPat Willard – Silk painter
A self-taught silk painter for 30 years, Pat achieves rich and jewel-like effects by drawing outlines with water resistant gutta on to stretched silk, and flooding the enclosed areas with vibrant silk dyes. Using salt and alcohol creates the beautiful textures in her work.
