A host of daffodils at two-day show

9 April 2010

RHS Daffodil Show

It may have been a long, cold winter, but there will be no shortage of blooms at the RHS Daffodil Show at RHS Garden Wisley. The Hillside Events Centre will be filled with hundreds of daffodil flowers, showing the fascinating range this plant has to offer. From miniatures and species types to blousy split-coronas and new seedlings exhibited for the first time, there will be something interesting to see, whatever your expertise.

The RHS Daffodil Show is very much in the traditional style with the individual blooms displayed in vases staged in rows. The awards include the prize for best bloom and challenging Engleheart Cup which is for the finest display of 12 cultivars that were raised from seed by the exhibitor.

After the show, there are thousands more daffodils to see at Wisley. Don’t miss the daffodils on the Trials Field, which are being assessed by the RHS Daffodil and Tulip Trials Panel to find the best cultivars for gardens. And there are swathes of daffodils in many areas, including by the restaurant, along the conifer lawn and in the arboretum.

The two-day RHS Daffodil Show is in the Hillside Events Centre at RHS Garden Wisley between April 13-14. Entry to the show is free, but garden admissions apply to non-RHS members.
