More gardens, more to enjoy

Four new gardens will next year join the RHS Partner Gardens scheme and will offer free entry to RHS members (main cardholder) either throughout their open periods, or at selected times. Here's a taste of what these outstanding gardens have to offer!
 

Crathes Castle, Garden and Estate, Aberdeenshire

Image: National Trust for ScotlandThis ancient castle has an extensive walled garden, a Golden Garden and two lavish beds of herbaceous colour known as the June Borders. The massive yew hedges date back as far as 1702 and the 595 acre estate has six separate trails to follow.

The Chelsea Physic Garden, London

Chelsea Physic Garden Set in the heart of London, the Chelsea Physic Garden is well known for its extraordinary range of medicinal, useful and edible plants. As the capital’s oldest botanic garden it holds some 5,000 plants telling the story of humankind’s relationship with the plant kingdom – most recently, a new Garden of Edible and Useful Plants was unveiled.

Sussex Prairie Gardens, West Sussex

Image: Marianne Majerus Garden ImagesThese 6 acre gardens feature impressive drifts of unusual grasses and rare perennials, planted in naturalistic style. Visitors can follow small paths within the borders, allowing a close-up appreciation of swathes of Miscanthus, Veronicastrum and Echinacea.

Minterne Gardens, Dorset

Minterne GardensExplore these secluded valley gardens where rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias are a particular attraction. There are fine specimens of Davidia involucrata (handkerchief tree), and bursts of colour from primulas, astilbes and waterlilies; while autumn brings spectacular colour from more than 200 acers.
