Roses to delight and inspire
June is the perfect time to enjoy that ultimate garden favourite, the rose. Immerse yourself in glorious colour and scent at one of these RHS Partner Gardens.
Loseley Park, Surrey

The Walled Garden at Loseley Park, based on a Gertrude Jekyll design, includes an award-winning Rose Garden planted with more than 1,000 old-fashioned rose bushes, including bourbons, gallicas, rugosas, albas, moss, damask and English, all framed by long, low box hedges. On 3 and 10 June 2013 the garden will host a rose walk and talk; reduced ticket prices apply for RHS members (please note: free garden entry for members applies May and September only).
Borde Hill Garden, West Sussex

In June Borde Hill’s rose gardens take a star turn. Follow the softly curving paths through Jay Robin’s Rose Garden, where more than 500 old English roses are complemented by delphiniums, lavender, peonies and phlox. You can also admire new rose beds featuring cultivars that hold the Gold Standard award of the British Association of Rose Breeders.
The Alnwick Garden, Northumberland

Follow your nose to The Alnwick Garden’s sweetly-scented Rose Garden. Here you’ll find more than 3,000 David Austin climbing and shrub roses including ‘Just Joey’, ‘Jude the Obscure’ and ‘Gertrude Jekyll’. Look for ‘The Alnwick Rose’, which bears rich pink, cup-shaped blooms with a delicious Old Rose fragrance and a hint of raspberries. The picture is completed by pergolas draped in roses, honeysuckle and clematis.
