Rare Local Plants of the Avon Gorge - Art Exhibition
1 March - 23 April

This new collection of detailed botanical art depicts rare local plants from the southwest of England. It is the work of six artists who were commissioned by the Curator of the University of Bristol Botanic Garden. The pictures portray specimens from the Avon Gorge near Bristol, including some of the Sorbus (whitebeams) that have evolved in that unique habitat. Free of charge with normal garden admission. RHS National Rhododendron Competition - 26 - 27 April

Rhododendron RabatzCome and marvel at the remarkable variety and colour of these beautiful spring flowering plants. This National Show has over 60 classes covering all types of Rhododendrons, as well as trade and advice stands plus magnificent displays of magnolias and camellias. View event details


Spring craft and design fair - 3 - 5 May

Handmade rabbit toyBrowse stalls of beautiful and unusual handmade items for home and garden. This three-day fair showcases a wealth of West Country creative talent and includes handcrafted ceramics, jewellery, clothing, handbags, glasswork and more. View event details

Devon Chilli Fiesta - 10 - 11 May

Come to the county’s first-ever chilli festival, with a whole weekend dedicated to the world of chillies. The Devon Chilli Fiesta has a theme of ‘Growing Chillies’ and offers a great day out for chilli enthusiasts, gardeners, food lovers and families alike.  Commercial chilli growers and experts from across the UK will be on hand to meet visitors and answer their questions. The principles of composting - 13 May

Digging compostJoin a walk around Rosemoor’s composting facilities to look at RHS composting methods. You will learn how to compost on a small and large scale, discuss different systems, plus understand common problems and their solutions. View event details

Dragon by Simon BrantAn exhibition of original illustrations from J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic books, including a collection of Tolkien memorabilia, garden trail, sculptures and a Middle Earth dwelling. View event details


Members' evenings - 10 and 24 July

Visitors enjoying the rose collectionA rare chance for RHS Members and their guests to enjoy beautiful Rosemoor on a summer’s evening (6-9pm). Stroll around the formal gardens listening to the subtle strains of live music floating out across the garden as you drink in the delicious scents of the evening air.

Rosemoor’s Plant Centre and Gift Shop will be open until 8pm and you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the Garden Kitchen (reservations: 01805 626821).

Plant of the month

The snake’s head fritillary, Fritillaria meleagris, is one of the most exquisite jewels in the treasure house of British wild flowers. Enjoy its nodding, chequered purple heads around the oak tree on Lake Field.
