A Celebration of Blossom - 7 – 12 May
Every spring for a fleeting moment, Wisley's 3ha traditional English apple orchard is filled with avenues of delicate pink and white blossom. Join us as we celebrate this once-in-a-year event with an enjoyable and informative week.
Blossom trail
Take our self-guided tour and learn all about the Wisley orchard apple trees. Find out about their history, their crops, why we have blossom and what happens during blossom season. Discover all about the busy role of bees in our orchard and how important they are to a successful and tasty crop in autumn.
Guided walks - 7 - 12 May
Join us for a beginner's guide to blossom. Starting at the garden entrance, we'll head for the orchard via some of our most colourful blossom, including magnificent magnolias, Prunus and the fruit trees in the Fruit Demonstration Garden.
Once in the orchard you will get a brief overview about this fascinating part of the garden and what makes it so individual to Wisley.
Times: walks at 11am and 2pm. Talks last approximately one hour.
Fruit tree advice
The Wisley Fruit team will be on hand in the orchard between 2pm and 3.30pm, Tuesday to Friday to offer advice and top tips to help you get the most out of your fruit trees, from growing and grafting to pruning and training.
Whether you're a beginner or an expert looking for new ideas, we can help with a huge range of queries.
Expert walks & talks
On 7 and 9 May, join a walk and talk by Jim Arbury, our Fruit Specialist. These walks for keen gardeners will discuss pollination, fruit growing and training and how to choose the right cultivar. Starts at 1pm; meet at the Honest Sausage Café, between the two oak trees. Walks last approximately 1 hour.
