Tree-mendous half term fun- 24-30 October 2011
Have a tree-mendous time at RHS Garden Wisley this October half term! Come along and get creative with a host of tree-themed activities that will keep the entire family entertained.
Why not take part in natural art classes where you can use natural materials and a dash of imagination to create wonderful sculptures in the arboretum, or join in ‘Waking the Forest’ musical workshops - rhythm based activities that help recreate the atmosphere of the forest. Make a spooky spider finger puppet in time for Halloween, or plant an acorn that you can watch grow into a tree in your own garden.
There's also plenty to do for those with a more adventurous side. For the first time at Wisley, you can climb a special tree using harnesses and pulleys*. There are bells and horns to ring once you have reached the top, and you’ll receive a certificate and badge to take home.
If you want to see how the professionals do it, come to one of our tree climbing demonstrations (25 Oct) with the skilled members of the RHS arboretum team.
To round the week off come and see our amazing birds of prey display (29-30 October) where there will be owls and eagles to marvel at.
You can also explore Wisley to find our impressive champion trees and have a go at sowing your own tree to take home.
