What a fantastic achievement!

Pupils in Year 2 took strawberry and lavender cuttings and collected plant seed to sell to school parents along with painted flower pots. Pupils from Year 1 sold scones and jam made in class.

If every one of the 2,900 schools in our Schools Membership Scheme followed suit, they could raise more than a million pounds! If your school would like to raise funds towards the Bicentenary Glasshouse, why not try the following:

  • Get green-fingered and hold a sponsored Sunflower Growing competition. Children could get sponsorship for every foot or metre that they grow.
  • Hit a high note with Christmas carol singing for donations
  • Be creative with home-made Christmas and birthday cards and Christmas decorations. You could recycle old cards or collect leaves and other items from outside to decorate them.
  • Celebrate the festive season with a Christmas fête - lucky dips and tombolas are always popular.
  • Get active with a sponsored walk - it’s a great way to get some fresh air, work off all those mince pies and raise money for a good cause.
  • Make a nature display in your school or local library and suggest a donation from visitors.
  • Pipe down! Have a sponsored silence day - definitely a hit with the teachers!
  • Set up a plant stall selling plants donated from school parents.
  • Tidy up with a sponsored litter pick in your school grounds or local community.
