Living history at Lady Elizabeth Hastings
News from Lady Elizabeth Hastings C of E School, from Mrs J Lewis, a gardening parent.
 |
'This year's living history day was an Elizabethan day. Children worked with herbs in the school's wildlife garden. This photo shows one of our pupils preparing herbs to 'strew' in school. The smell as we walked over them was absolutely lovely!
'We also made posies and finger bowls for the tables at the 'banquet', much more fun than normal school dinner! We made scented bags to ward off all the bad smells and diseases that were around in Elizabethan times. |
'Coincidentally, the judges for the Greenfingers Challenge came to visit that day, and we were pleased to be awarded a runners-up prize in the Yorkshire and Humberside region.'
