RHS Qualifications

RHS Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture

Aimed at the more advanced student, the RHS Diploma in Horticulture builds upon the work of the RHS Advanced Certificate , which forms the first stage of the qualification. Candidates must have gained the Advanced Certificate before proceeding to the Diploma.

The qualification is modular in structure with three compulsory modules and one option module. One of the compulsory modules assesses practical skills. The four modules must be completed within a qualifying period of four years.

Compulsory modules

Module F: Environment and Ecology; Resource Management

Module G: Genetics, Plant Breeding and Systematic Botany; Plant Physiology II

Module H: Practical Horticulture

Option modules

One module selected from the remaining two modules not already completed for the Advanced Certificate:

Module D: Outdoor Plant Production; Protected Plant Production

Module I: Planning layout and Construction of Ornamental Gardens; Restoring Established Ornamental Gardens

Module J: Establishment and Maintenance of Decorative Ornamental Turf; Plant Selection, Establishment and Maintenance; Hardy Ornamental Nursery Stock
