Trails
Whatever time of year you visit RHS gardens you will find a trail leaflet available free of charge at the Garden Entrance, for children visiting with their families.
At RHS Garden Wisley there is a trail for younger children (aged three to six). The Sunny Patch Adventure has been produced in collaboration with Nelvana and Fisher-Price. There is also a themed trail for older children and their families, which follows a particular path around the garden.
Visitors to RHS Rosemoor can follow several themed trails that are available throughout the year. Visitors to RHS Garden Hyde Hall can follow the Hyde Hall Seasonal Trail, and visitors to RHS Garden Harlow Carr can follow themed or seasonal quiz trails in all school holidays; for younger children, a seasonal I-spy quiz is available throughout the year.
All trail leaflets are free at all the gardens and will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
Flourish Campaign - The RHS campaign to get communities growing
Flourish has been running for over a year now and is a campaign run by the RHS to help make horticulture accessible to every child in the UK by supporting the development of gardens in schools and youth groups.
Academic year 2004-2005
During the 2004-2005 academic year this project set up gardens in nine schools around the country. The RHS Flourish campaign assisted these schools with seeking funds for their projects and gave £1000 to each school. The schools included special needs schools, small rural schools, inner city schools and secondary schools and were located across the country. Each school had a different project for instance the special needs school set up a fruit and vegetable growing garden on allotments and Haseltine in Lewisham, London, a Primary school, focused on gardens for the Early Years in small spaces. This is currently being evaluated as part of the initial brief was the process of setting up such a project.

Academic year 2005-2006
In association with the Helen Hamlyn Trust Open Futures campaign, RHS Flourish will be working in collaboration with Focus on Food (an RSA campaign) on a project called Grow it! Cook it! Two horticulturists have been employed to work in 10 schools in deprived areas on the south coast. These trained horticulturists will be working in these schools to assist them in setting up 'food producing gardens'. Our partner Focus on Food will then work with the schools on developing essential skills to cook the produce. The aim of the project is to encourage children to choose healthy foods and to enjoy cooking meals with fresh ingredients from scratch.
