Library Projects
London
Lindley Library London is now housed in a fully refurbished building at Vincent Square, London. This was made possible by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and funding from the Society and its members. The new facilities house and preserve the library’s heritage collection, and have greatly improved access for researchers and students , including access for disabled users. The facilities also include a special room for the drawings collection.
Garden Libraries
Garden Libraries in all RHS gardens are extremely popular. Their appeal is to amateur and professional gardeners, students, and RHS members, as well as to families and visitors from the whole region. The first Garden Library opened at Wisley in 1996, and 23,000 people visited Wisley Garden Library in 2006.
Lindley Library Catalogue
The library catalogue now contains records for all 20th century books in London. At Wisley, Hyde Hall and Rosemoor Garden Libraries all books are now on the online catalogue. For many older works images are being added, together with some supplementary documents attached to the records in PDF form. Digitising and cataloguing the drawings collection has also begun.
