Cover picture: Lilium mackliniae is a dainty species growing to about 50cm tall, each stem bearing up to six neat, broad bell-shaped flowers. It was discovered by Frank Kingdon-Ward in 1946 in north-eastern India (Manipur) and is sometimes referred to as the Manipur lily. It was named in honour of the collector's second wife Jean Macklin.
