National Horticultural Forum
"A Vision of Horticulture" was a report commisioned by DEFRA to review the funding of horticultural research, and presented in 2002. The report recommended the formation of a coordinating body to improve the targetting of research funds. As a result the National Horticultural Forum was formed, by agreement between the Horticultural Trades Association, National Farmers Union, Royal Horticultural Society, Horticulture Research International, Horticulture Development Council, Institute of Horticulture, University of Reading and the East Malling Trust for Horticultural Research. It aims to create and update an overview of the horticultural industry, to identify major research and development needs and the contributions that horticulture makes to society.
In 2004 a skills audit of research and development in horticulture was published. In 2008, an updated review on the provision of UK horticultural R&D was published.
