Plant hunting adventures come to life

14 May 2012

From 'Cingalese Drawings' owned by John Lindley

Previously unseen artefacts from the RHS Lindley Library collection will be on display in The Plant Seekers exhibition, bringing to life stories of important plant collectors such as Reginald Farrer (1880-1920), who travelled the world.

Curated by The Garden Museum, this unique event will demonstrate how international plant hunting has influenced our modern British gardens, medicine, science, biodiversity and other environmental issues.

Artefacts on display will include watercolour paintings sent from China by John Reeves (1774-1856), selected paintings from a bound volume of 'Cingalese Drawings' owned by John Lindley (1799-1865) and images by British photographer and gardener Valerie Finnis.
