New sculpture garden open at Threave

8 September 2011

Sculpture at Threave

A new sculpture garden was unveiled at the National Trust for Scotland's Threave Estate on 27 August and is now open to visitors.

Forming a permanent exhibit, the sculptures are set among the 64 acre garden in the beautiful surroundings of Castle Douglas. They have been created by some of Dumfries and Galloway's finest artists, including Lucianne Lassalle, Peter Dowden, Dawn Rhodes, Andy Breen and Willie Wight.

One of the enlisted sculptors, Lucianne Lassalle, commented: 'I am fascinated by the beauty of the human form impelled and inspired to make sculpture.'

Visitors of the sculpture garden are rewarded a rare opportunity to purchase and commission some of the original pieces on show.
