Vote for your favourite sweet pea
15 June 2012
Visitors to RHS Garden Wisley will be able to vote for their favourite sweet pea in the trials at the garden this summer. The trial includes 37 different cultivars.
Jim Gardiner, RHS Director of Horticulture says, 'This is an excellent opportunity to see a wide range of sweet peas in one place, to compare their flowers and colours, and perhaps to choose one that has caught your eye and you might want to grow.'
An RHS subcommittee, which includes representatives from the National Sweet Pea Society, will also be carrying out continuous assessments of all the cultivars over the growing and flowering season. The best of those cultivars will be awarded the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM). The Award of Garden Merit is the RHS seal of approval that the plant performs reliably in the garden.
Voting papers will be available at the trials field from Monday 18 June. The RHS will publish the results of the vote at the end of the flowering season.
