Webbs to take on Garden Organic retail business

5 January 2010

Garden Organic is in discussion with the garden centre business Webbs, based in Worcester, to take on its retail, conference and catering operations at Ryton, Warwickshire. An announcement to confirm the negotiations is expected to be made in February.

Under the partnership Garden Organic would continue to run and develop the 8.9ha (22 acre) organic garden and carry on with the administration of Garden Organic’s charitable activities and research projects. The new Webbs, Ryton Gardens store will help drive the number of garden visitors and bolster the charity’s organic mission by stocking a range of natural gardening products, plants and local and organic food. In future it also hopes to be able to sell rare and heirloom plants grown from stocks in Garden Organic’s Heritage Seed Library.
