Volume 134

Part 4

April

Britain is one of the most horticulturally diverse countries in the world and should be rightfully proud of the multitude of plants that eager hands and passionate hearts have nurtured.
Successive generations deriving enjoyment from growing, breeding and sharing plants is essential to horticulture, and the foundation upon which many special-interest plant societies were established. For a while now I have detected that some societies were experiencing change, but recently things have altered radically, largely driven by social dynamics and the internet. Plant enthusiast John Grimshaw takes stock and looks to the future.
