Volume 134
Part 12
My garden is the place where I most love to sit and contemplate; I often mentally sketch out ideas and think about things I want to do in the coming year. It frequently happens in winter, where I become momentarily oblivious to winter’s chill and mentally fast-forward to
spring or summer. At this time of the year, the less obvious is given a chance to reveal itself.
Gardens need time to realise their potential, and this is definitely the case with the garden at Séricourt, in Pas-de-Calais, created over some 25 years – see how owner Yves Gosse de Gorre has achieved his outstanding creations. Even though we have endured a recession this year, when it comes to plants I have not grown before, care goes out of the window. My passion pales to that of Roy Lancaster, who selects his top plants of the year.
On behalf of The Garden team and the Society may I wish you a very merry Christmas.
