There is an incredible array of wintergreen plants that, used with care, can energise the winter scene. Stephen Lacey takes a look at the most distinctive, including good performers as well as some more recent introductions. Scent is also a welcome seasonal delight and in acknowledgement Nigel Colborn selects six of his favourites.
In 2009, the Society’s Grow Your Own campaign turns to fruit, with the publication of a new RHS book, Grow Your Own Fruit, and a dedicated website that went live in December. To celebrate, The Garden asked Society experts to suggest fruit for beginners, while Nigel Slater, in a new series looking at uses for home-grown produce, examines rhubarb.
