This month The Garden admires roses in traditional settings by visiting the romantic gardens of The Manor, near Cambridge and Mottisfont Abbey, Hampshire. Sarah Coles also considers where rose breeding might be taking us: from disease resistance, plant habit and flower colour to all-important scent. Roses will also be a major part of this year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower show. Also featuring at the show will be a garden exhibit demonstrating a vision of sustainable gardening and the latest in ‘green technology’. Chris Young takes a peek at what will be on offer.
