Volume 134

Part 11

November

It is an unwritten maxim that some of our most vivid memories are founded on the most fragile and fleeting of circumstances. The autumn garden exemplifies this as life continues to thrive through the medium of decay. Seedheads, backlit and chained with dew-spangled cobwebs, are visually entrancing, providing temporary homes to wildlife and food for birds. It is remarkable how quickly we have come to appreciate the stark, transitory qualities of seed pod and capsule to the point where we almost intentionally weave it into our designs, rather than let it occur by accident.
