Brazil

Ports of Call
Buenos Aires • Montevideo • Rio De Janiero • Salvador • Recife • Belem • Santarem • Parintins • Manaus

Fly to Buenos Aires, one of the most exciting cities in the world. Explore the heavily forested Tigre Delta and the colourful Botanical Gardens. Across the River Plate, Montevideo is the great rival port to Buenos Aires, boasting an eclectic mix of architectural styles.

After the refined European quality of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, plunge into the dazzling vibrancy of Rio de Janeiro and explore as it prepares for this year’s carnival. Two full days in port allow you to discover Sugar Loaf Mountain at close hand and get out of the city and discover the mountain retreat of Petropolis, the former capital of Brazil Salvador, famed for its 365 churches, and Olinda, one of the largest and best preserved colonial cities in Brazil.

Belem is the gateway to the Amazon – visit one of Brazil’s most important research centres, seeing many rare species of Amazonian wildlife before Minerva enters the Amazon. Observe wildlife and vast landscapes from Minerva’s decks as she cruises to Santarem.

On an island in the Amazon River lies the small town of Parintins, famous for being the centre of one of the largest mass events in Brazil, the Boi-Bumba celebrations. Enjoy a lively version of this show before finally sailing into Manaus where you can explore the dense Amazon Forest on foot.
