Plant pathology is the science that studies plant diseases. Diseases are malfunctions of plants caused by micro-organisms referred as a whole as pathogens. These include fungi, bacteria and viruses. The plant pathology work covers several aspects of plant diseases from advice on plant diseases and their control to the study of the biology and taxonomy of important and new garden pathogens.

Based in the laboratory building at Wisley, Plant Pathology consists of a team of scientists including one principal plant pathologist, two plant pathologists, one research assistant and one technical assistant.
