Exciting features at BBC GWL

Enjoy a rainbow of plants and pick up great gardening ideas to try at home at Gardeners' World Live 2012.

The BBC Gardeners' World Live Show 2012 is vibrant with colourful plants that catch the eye, intriguing garden designs, masses of floral exhibits, demonstrations and more.

This year’s show gardens successfully demonstrate how hard landscaping forms the all-important structure on which to build up interesting planting combinations.

Ideas to copy at home

The plots provide inspiration for home gardeners on how to use plants in a range of situations such as in dry climates, (pictured above).

Inside the Urban Oasis

See how to combine allotment fruit and vegetables with ornamental planting, as demonstrated in the Urban Oasis exhibit, by Chris Beardshaw. This exhibit gives great ideas and pointers on good allotment gardening brought together with attractive planting to delight the eye as well as the tastebuds!

Designs to get you talking

For creative gardeners who want something different, the Apple show garden by Tony Smith offers a simple yet effective space.

In the RHS Floral Marquee

The displays in the RHS Floral Marquee prove equally inspiring with a plethora of plants, again with different garden situations in mind. Waterside Nurseries is displaying a range of pond and marginal plants which gardeners can use to complete a pond feature beneficial to garden wildlife.

Scented flowers are particularly prominent this year. In the marquee there are heady displays perfumed cottage plants as well as lilies, scented climbers and roses.

If that is not enough, there are many other attractions, including displays and interactive demonstrations to appeal to house and garden enthusiasts.

Wildlife lovers should make a beeline for the RHS Gardening for Widlife area to learn about beekeeping, explore a bat-friendly garden and find out about pond conservation.
