Awards announced at Gardeners' World Live 2012

Best Show Garden goes to Adam Frost's Childhood Memories while Birmingham City Council scoops the award for Best Floral Exhibit

Best Show Garden Childhood Memories

The award for Best Show Garden goes to Childhood Memories, designed by Adam Frost, recent Chelsea Gold medal winner. In the Floral Marquee, Birmingham City Council scooped the award for Best Exhibit with all things Birmingham displayed in a floral setting.

The Childhood Memories show garden is alive with a sense of nostalgia. Reminders of garden pastimes, such as skittles and camping outdoors, evoke happy memories of children playing outdoors.

The garden itself shows different elements of gardening, such as container planting, allotment gardening, and use of water features. Designer Adam Frost was inspired to create the garden by favourite memories of spending time in his grandfather's allotment as a child. Traditional crops in the garden, including sweetcorn and redcurrants, all help to set the scene.

RHS Floral Marquee

In the  RHS Floral Marquee The Birmingham City Council exhibit shows off iconic symbols of Birmingham, such as a canal boat, a mini and a bull (reminiscent of the bull at the city centre's Bull Ring) atop a beautiful floral display. The exhibit deservedly takes pride and place in the centre of the marquee.
