The Urban Retreat is a garden owned by a busy working couple and has been designed as somewhere to escape from the pressures of everyday modern life.

This soothing, relaxing sanctuary is beautifully simple to maintain. Offering respite from the nine to five life and our artificial built environment, the garden brings nature to the couple’s back door with its sweeping, gentle curves. Its soft lines and uncluttered simplicity create the perfect atmosphere for entertaining. The warm tones of sandstone paving are complemented by the planting and an oak arbour, with timberwork crafted from locally-sourced oak by Norbury Park Wood Products, managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust.
