To celebrate 50 years and reveal "what is behind the panda", WWF has worked with designer Fiona Stephenson to create a garden that reflects the beauty of a chalk stream.

Supported by the HSBC Climate Partnership, the garden tells the story of WWF’s water conservation work, and on closer inspection there are hidden messages. Plants typically found around chalk streams or in alkaline soils intermingle with oversized planting, while a giant plug and sphere artworks inspire visitors to think about how we use water, and how to help protect this special UK wildlife habitat.

Expert commentary by Chris Young - Editor of The Garden

This is a good combination of naturalistic wildflower planting and landscaping with man-made spherical artworks. The generally natural-looking garden, including a rammed earth wall, is cleverly punctuated by the spheres which bring the whole garden together.
