Floral extravaganza from cacti kings Southfields
Best in floral marquee Southfields Nurseries headed up a record-breaking 47 RHS gold medal displays at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show this year.
"You'll never see so many cacti on show at one time AND almost all in flower," said RHS spokesman Bob Sweet.
Other highlights include the amazing Slipper orchids on the Edrom Nurseries stand (left), and a really practical display of hardy plants for dry shade from Cotswold Garden Flowers, as well as bonsai in flower from the North of England Bonsai stand.
New plants at the show
Stunning lilies
Seen stunning lilies in all their glory on the H W Hyde stand. This is new introduction Lion Heart and Asiatic hybrid - there are many more stunning new varieties to see, some of which will be also shown at Chelsea.
It's all about Eve
Dibleys won the Chelsea Plant of the Year award last year, and are introducing several new varieties this year - including Eve, pictured left. Get a sneek preview on their stand. You can buy them too but there's not much stock so get there quick!
Flowers in miniature
The North of England Bonsai stand is always worth a visit, but this year is a real treat, with several specimens in full flower. Don't miss the amazing Rhododendron indicum 'Kanbayashi' - simply stunning.
